Our Secretary
Carletta Boggs is our church secretary. There is no way to overstate the work she does. And she has been doing it since January, 1976! She was born and raised in Paragould, AR and graduated from Arkansas State University. She taught school for about 5 years before becoming secretary. The church runs well only when she is at the helm of the front desk. It was that way with C. W. Brannam, with Martel Pace, with Johnny Hester, with David Wade, and it is that way today. She is married to Leonard, one of the elders, and has two sons, both of whom work in ministry positions. Danny preaches at Neosho, MO and David works with the Christian Courier in California. She has two great daughters-in-law and five grandchildren, pictures of whom she will be glad to show you if you stop in at the office. Martel Pace described Carletta as having a “wonderful personality and a smile that won’t quit (even on Thursdays when she has to print the bulletin!). Johnny Hester said that she is more than just the friendly voice on the telephone. “Her numerous responsibilities include librarian, assisting with benevolence, writing letters, correcting your preacher’s poor spelling and sentence construction, greeting visitors, fending off salesmen (ever so diplomatically), corresponding with missionaries, helping teachers, scheduling, typing reports, recording attendance and contributions, ordering supplies, picking up and sorting mail, making coffee, posting the books, filing, getting out the weekly bulletin, and hundreds of incidental tasks.” That almost covers it. She brings experience and genuine Christian concern to the office every day. The greatest asset of this lady is that she is the best secret keeper in the brotherhood. And when she is gone, the church comes to a halt. So we must all pray to the Lord to give our secretary a good, long, long, long life!
